The CBM trip to Italy in April was relatively busy as, for sake of cost, we fitted the work of five days into four. After a very early start from Luton, the team arrived in Verona and checked into the hotel before setting off for Padova to visit Richard, the son of a UK brother and sister. We spent a great evening around God’s word and three pizzas, and hope that this continued contact may help Richard to make the decision to commit to serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Upon our return we met up with Brethren Naizghi and Tesfai from Eritrea who were to spend the four days with us. The following day, after shopping for our picnic lunch, we visited Sister Betty in Vangadizza for lunch and a breaking of bread. We found our sister in good spirits and good health despite her age, and were encouraged in exhortation by Brother Simon. In the evening, after fly-billing our new leaflets, advertising the website and correspondence course, in central Verona, we enjoyed one another’s fellowship and conversation around the readings and more pizza! On Saturday half of the team finished the fly-billing while three of us met with Isaiah, a Pentecostal contact, and spent some hours discussing the Word of God together. Isaiah outlined the problems facing Africans attempting to find work in racist Italy and made us more aware of the difficulties our Brethren are encountering. Following a quick picnic lunch we travelled as a group to Vignola to meet Prince, the contact we first met last October. He was now living in a shared house, and with his friend Festus, and they put on a huge African meal for us before joining us over the daily readings out in the open air, where both had many questions. We were amazed to be met with such hospitality and enthusiasm and glad of the opportunity to meet another interested friend. That evening, Brother Roshan was able to meet us for the daily readings and a meal in Verona. Sunday was our final day, and Brother Tesfai departed back to Rome, where he is lodging, while Brother Naizghi stayed in Verona for a few days to seek work. We travelled to Castel Goffredo and met with Brother Foster, a Ghanaian with whom we broke bread and were led in exhortation by Brother Justin. Following this, our Brother brought in a friend, Michael, from a local church with whom he has been having Bible discussions. After many questions, Michael agreed to receive the correspondence course, and we are now in need of a Brother or Sister to take on this role, which may be challenging due to Michael’s current belief in God incarnation. Following our stimulating time together we headed back to Milan Bergamo airport, thankful to our Heavenly Father that the work had been blessed and more seed was able to be sown and plants nurtured, including ourselves.
